Vinegarroon “Where Hunting Whitetail Is Still A Challenge”
Vinegarroon Wildlife has been in the whitetail hunting business for 14 years, and we offer the challenge of whitetail hunting, Texas style. The Vinegarroon Ranches cover over 25,000 acres in southwest Texas north of the Rio Grande River. Our ranches are low fence, and all of our hunts are as fair chase as it gets. Vinegarroon Wildlife offers guided hunts that are geared to the outdoor sportsman that likes to hunt a mature whitetail in his natural range. You will be hunting country in which we have bucks that we have yet to see and the deer have not been pressured by over hunting. Our ranches lay between the Rio Grande River on the South and The Devil’s River on the North. The terrain is covered in a wide variety of low thorny brush that provides high nutritional forage for our whitetail. The rangeland is a contrast from large mesquite and prickle pear flats, to big canyons as you near the rivers.
Our guides will hunt several different ways for Trophy whitetail. We feel this is your hunt and we want you to make the decision on the buck you try for. They will plan a hunt that could involve sitting stands are tripods, rattling horns, walking canyons, are riding. They will choose the best way to hunt depending on what the buck activity dictates. You will hunt 1000’s of acres each day, exclusively to you and your guide. Our guides stay on the ranch and have many hours glassing and videoing before the season and your arrival. We also stress safety at all times.
*Our new hunt the Canyon Hunt was a success in 2007 and we are offering it to the true whitetail hunter who wants to go 1 on 1 with a true wild mature whitetail buck. This hunt is walk and stalk in the back river country where there are few roads, no feeders, no livestock, just big canyons and big Bucks. You will hunt the canyon rims, working into the wind, mixed with rattling, sitting, and glassing the bottoms. You need to be in shape and ready to close distance on a Trophy buck that may be 1000 yards away. The 2008 Whitetail rifle season starts Nov. 1, 08 and runs thru Jan. 4, 09.
We have maintained a year round supplemental feed and mineral program for 14 years. We allow only mature bucks to be taken off the ranch each year. We classify a mature buck as 5.5 years and older. We have a 1 to 2 buck to doe ratio and our density is around 1 deer to 12 acres. We try to harvest 1 buck to 500 acres and the necessary doe to keep the herd balanced. Our hunters should see 10-20 bucks each day. The last 2 years the average age on our mature bucks has been 6.0 yrs. plus. Our average mature bucks will be in the 130-140 class B&C gross, with our top bucks each year in the 150-160 class. We also offer management bucks in our hunt packages. Our trophy hunts are 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 day hunts.
We have a nice, clean, comfortable, accommodations at our headquarters with AC/heated bedrooms. Our cook serves 3 homemade ranch style meals every day, second to none. Vinegarroon Wildlife’s goal is for each customer to experience a successful and memorable hunt. This goal is supported by our dedicated guides and cook.
